The watercolor painting can serve the magic from spilled wet wash to detailed dry brush effect which no other medium can.

Artists put his emotions into the painting where the pigments of watercolor play its major role in delivers the output. In this Hues of Watercolor 6 watercolor painting workshop, the artist puts his thoughts on ‘Why Watercolor?’ through his demos with the landscape, mythical (conceptualized) art, portrait, and other similar topics.

Watercolor is such a medium, which may appear simple in execution. Thus, it takes years to be perfect.

This is a 2-day watercolor painting workshop for intermediate to advanced skill levels.  Lessons & exercises are designed to expand and improve watercolor painting skills. Become more intuitive when applying the brush to paper.  Come prepared to be nudged out of your “comfort zone”.

Mornings will begin with a demo followed by discussion and exercise. 1-hour break for lunch.

Material & Equipment list:

This is for more advanced watercolor painters, it is assumed that you already have the necessary “tools of the trade”; paint, brushes, palette, etc.


About Vasudeo Kamath:

Right from his early childhood, Vasudeo Kamath’s inclination for drawing became apparent to people to people around him. After schooling, he took admission in the most prestigious institute Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. J.J. provided him a platform to prove his talents. He completed his G.D Art with first class first distinction.

He prefers to paint in oil on canvas and in watercolor. And, he also enjoys painting in soft pastels, oil pastels and acrylics. In his academic years, he loves to paint landscapes on the location and portraits from life. He creates conceptual paintings based on his ideas and what he firmly believes. Most of all, in subjective paintings, he tries to bring out the mythological and historical subjects with detailed study in a realistic manner.

He paints commissioned portraits of the people around. He also gets invites from dignitaries and diplomats for painting from life. His mastery in portraits has won many awards, the most acclaimed one is Draper Grand award bestowed upon by The Portrait Society of America for his portraits and ‘My Wife’ in 2006.


Materials recommended for Watercolor Painting Workshop by Vasudeo Kamath

*Paper: (Recommended )

12 x 16  Watercolor Block – 140# cold press or 2 sheets –  22×30 Arches/Canson/Chitrapat  Watercolor paper – 300# cold press.

Note:  If you opt to use 300# cold press, you will need a rigid support such as a piece of foam – we will be providing this.

*Brushes:  We will be working with 1″ flat wash and Rounds # 8, #12, #16, plus a #2 Liner or “rigger”.

*Palette:  Any palette that has at least 12 wells for color and a large mixing area for big puddles of color

*Paint:  Bring what you have to include a good selection of colors  – a warm & cool each of red, yellow and blue, burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Yellow Ochre,


Other items:

5×7 or 6×8 sketchbook for  value sketches & color notes

Quart-size Water container

pencil & soft eraser

low-tac painter’s tape 1/2″

Box of Tissues

Roll Paper Towels

Dates:  June 25th and 26th (Saturday and Sunday)
