Story of Oil Color 2nd Editon

S. Elayaraja, an artist who captured the unseen beauty of our daily lives through his Oil Paintings. Story of oil Color is a series of oil painting workshops which initiated by team Coloring India Foundation.


AN ARTIST WILL SEE THE BEAUTY

The great Chinese philosopher, Confucius once said, “Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it”. While, it is the bitter fact that the world concentrates on complications and denies admiring the simplicity of life.

S. Elayaraja, an artist who saw the beauty is ordinary and captured them in oil painting, which we didn’t give a chance to notice. He admires the elegance of realistic features in women and lit them up in his oil paintings.


S. ELAYARAJA’S ADMIRATION

Most of all, his paintings are focused on the Tamil women and their tradition fascinates him to capture their candid expressions under one collection called “Dravidian Women”.

His paintings reveal stories through the innocent eyes of the women he portrays. S. Elayaraja is a successful artist who has exposed the unseen beauty of the world to admire the simple things in life through Oil Paintings.


WHY OIL PAINTING?

Oil paintings are widely preferred by the artists for the quality of the realism effect that brings to the portrait. It is rich and has vivid colors to highlight the masterpiece. But brighter than the acrylic paints as they tend to dry quickly and turns darker. They are mostly handled by the professional artists.


A WALK THROUGH ON “STORY OF OIL COLOR”

‘Story of Oil Colors” is a series of workshops conducted by a team from Colouring India Foundation with great artists like S. Elayaraja. It is not easy for people to find time taking up oil painting lessons especially when it takes days to learn.
This is a platform created for the art lovers to participate and to engage with the professional artists. They will benefit the opportunity to know the professional way of painting and techniques in handling oil paints.


FOCUS AND PAINT. ADMIRE AND PAINT.

Two days oil painting workshop by S.Elayaraja has conducted at Sri Sai Saraswathi Vidyanikethan, Hyderabad. He gave the glimpse of his artwork to the participants in an indoor workshop since oil painting takes days for completion.

On the first day, he asked the participants to focus on the basics. Using oil paints, he demonstrated on an imaginary face sketch. The participants were also painting with the materials given by the Story of Oil color 2nd Edition team. The whole session was interactive with one-on-one conversation and explanatory answers from S. Elayaraja. The first day ended by focusing mainly on the facial features of the painting.

Then the next day was more interesting since it was a live painting. The artist S. Elayaraja done beautiful live painting in few hours. A woman was the subject of the Oil painting during the workshop. It was fascinating to see the artist manipulating the light in the painting to bring in the realism. He admired the woman and his painting was the compliment for her beauty.

The workshop was complete when S. Elayaraja expressed his admiration for Tamil women and their culture through his Oil Painting, although it was left incomplete since the lack of time he pulled it off really well.


WHAT DID THE PARTICIPANTS LEARN?

The basics in oil painting like, a quantity of paint to be used, types of brushes for different shades, the mixture of colors to highlight etc were taught to the participants by S.Elayaraja. The participants were told to observe the second day’s live painting.


WERE THE PAINTING MATERIALS PROVIDED?

Yes, the painting materials were provided to the participants by the Story of Oil Color 2nd Edition team if they paid for it initially.


HOW DIFFERENT WAS THIS WORKSHOP THAN THE OTHERS?

Making it easy everything! Generally, Oil paintings are difficult to be tamed for normal hands.  Teaching S. Elayaraja’s own techniques which he used for his masterpiece. Also, it is very rare to witness a live painting but Story of Oil Color 2nd edition team made it possible for the participants.

The workshop with S. Elayaraja brought to success with the help of well-organized by the team, Story of Oil Color – Coloring India Foundation. The participants enjoyed the ambiance throughout the interactive session. The team is improving more for the upcoming workshops for all.
