Ethical Conduct & Practice Policy

Fine Arts Gurukul (“We”, “Us”, or “Our”) is committed to maintaining honesty, integrity, and respect in all learning environments across:

  • Pencil & Chai

  • Junior Pencil & Chai

  • Sampratishta School of Fine Arts & Design


1. Our Approach

 

Art and design learning involves observation, inspiration, and exploration of existing ideas. We encourage:

  • Open exchange of ideas

  • Research and referencing

  • Collaborative learning

 

At the same time, all students must:

  • Acknowledge the work and ideas of others

  • Present their own original work honestly


2. Responsibility

 

Both faculty and students share responsibility for maintaining ethical standards.

  • Faculty are expected to guide and uphold best practices

  • Students are responsible for honesty in all submissions and creative work


3. Academic & Creative Integrity

 

All work submitted for:

  • Assessments

  • Portfolio development

  • Exhibitions or public sharing

 

must reflect the student’s own effort, skill, and understanding, unless explicitly stated otherwise.


4. What Constitutes Misconduct

 

a. Cheating

 

Includes:

  • Submitting work created by someone else

  • Copying during assessments

  • Using unauthorized materials

  • Reusing old work without permission

  • Misuse of devices during evaluations


b. Plagiarism

 

Includes:

  • Copying ideas, text, or visuals without credit

  • Using reference images or designs without acknowledgment

  • Presenting another’s work as your own

  • Improper or missing attribution

 

Plagiarism applies to all formats:

  • Drawings

  • Paintings

  • Digital work

  • Written submissions

 


c. Unauthorized Collaboration (Syndication)

  • Submitting group work as individual work

  • Not acknowledging contributions

  • Copying from peers

 

Collaboration is allowed only when clearly permitted and credited


5. Guidelines for Ethical Practice

 

Students are expected to:

  • Acknowledge all references and inspirations

  • Clearly state their role in collaborative work

  • Use proper attribution where applicable

  • Seek guidance when unsure

  • Maintain originality in all submissions

 


6. Consequences of Violation

 

Violation of this policy may result in:

  • Assignment rejection

  • Academic penalties

  • Failure in a module

  • Suspension or removal from the program

 

Fine Arts Gurukul reserves the right to take appropriate disciplinary action.

Students are encouraged to speak with:

  • Course leaders

  • Academic support team

 

for any guidance related to ethical practices.
